Event summary: September 29, 2022 will mark the 50th anniversary of Japan-PRC diplomatic normalization, which saw Tokyo switch recognition from Taipei (Taiwan, aka the Republic of China) to Beijing (aka the People’s Republic of China). In the interest of serving 21JPSI’s mission of deepening collaborations between U.S.- and Japan-based scholars, this virtual webinar will bring together experts at Indiana University, Tokyo University, and several other institutions to jointly reflect on the Japan-China relationship past, present, and future, including the implications for U.S.-Japan relations.

This event will be co-moderated by Profs. Adam P. Liff (Indiana University) and Akio Takahara (University of Tokyo), who will also serve as panelists.
